Have you heard the quote “it takes a village?”. This phrase normally embodies the thought of how to raise a child, but what we often forget as adults is we in fact still need that village to thrive.

When in recovery, your surroundings are the foundation of your ability to thrive. Think of yourself as a house, and to continue your strength, in rebuilding the walls to yourself, the foundation needs to be strong enough to hold the pressure. Sometimes the hardest part is vulnerability and allowing yourself to trust others, letting them in to see the not so healed parts of yourself. This process takes courage, strength, acceptance and willingness to bring others into your life in ways that may be unfamiliar at first. Rest assured that when your tribe is healthy, and right for you, it becomes easier and more embraced as time moves forward.  The recovery community is filled with all types of tribes. Allow a coach, or trusted friend to help you navigate the way. You are never alone. We have been there too and if it’s not a path we have personally taken, chances are we know of someone who has and will be the first willing to connect you to a guide that is meant for you.

At times you may feel you have no idea what you even need, this is NORMAL. Breaking the chains of addiction and into recovery takes time, many “ups and downs” to be navigated and the most prevalent part of the journey is discovering who you are in the process. This could be finding the “old you”, or reinventing into a brand-new version of what you had hoped to become but not always sure what it looked like until now. The beauty of life is none of us ever stay “the same”. We are supposed to grow, and shrink, discover and rediscover as time goes on, having a tribe that can also celebrate and share these moments alongside you is what makes it all worthwhile as well. Become that home to yourself that you are always meant to be. Foundation first.

For help alongside your journey of recovery, no matter how you envision it. We are always here for you
