August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day, a global event that aims to raise awareness of overdose fatalities, reduce the stigma of drug related deaths and acknowledge the grief felt by the family and loved ones. This is a day to remember and honor those we’ve lost to overdose. Aside from her role within PCO, our Peer Grief Support Specialist Mary also facilitates two overdose grief support groups called Matthews Candle. This year, in preparation of overdose awareness day, our Operations Supervisor met with some of the members of Matthews Candle to hear their stories and learn about the beautiful lives their loved ones lived and who they were outside of their substance use disorder. This page will serve as a memorial to all those stories of love, loss, and hope.
